TITUS is a federally funded study designed to explore the health behaviors, thoughts and attitudes of youth living in Los Angeles. Our goal is to understand how social factors and mental health influence teenagers’ decisions to use tobacco or other drugs. The opinions of high schoolers will provide an in-depth, current view into the attitudes, behaviors, and factors relating to mental health and substance use. This gives researchers the evidence-base to inform policy makers, educators, and key community stakeholders who have the potential to take action on this growing health threat.
TITUS will survey a cohort of 2,000 high school students once a year from 9th to 12th grade. We are currently working with 9 high schools in the Los Angeles area.
