USC Research Curriculum

As Public Health researchers, our team at USC is excited to give students insight into our research world and hope to provide a better understanding of why we conduct research that involves activities much like the survey collection done at your school. This is just a snapshot of the very interesting work that goes into research and how it can impact the overall health of a community.

This online curriculum has been designed to include everything a teacher will need to deliver this to a class. Alternatively, students can work through the slides and accompanying worksheets on their own time as an assignment. We have divided our curriculum into three modules. Each module is about 45 minutes and has a set of presentation slides and activity worksheets. Each module also has a Teacher’s Guide (lesson plan) where you will find learning objectives, key terms, and speaker notes. Modules can be delivered independently of each other.

Measure Repository

The Center for Population Health aims to advance capacity for research by facilitating access to the measures utilized in our studies. Here you can browse and download each of these measures as a word document or REDCap data dictionary file (CSV), to easily utilize in your own surveys. This repository includes full length, official shortened, and unofficial shortened measures of relevant variables relating to mental health, emotion, culture, substance use, traits, and behaviors. This repository includes measures designed for adult, youth, and child populations. This repository also includes cultural measures in English and Spanish translations.
