MEASURE REPOSITORY

The Triandis Individualism-Collectivism Scale

The Triandis Individualism-Collectivism Scale (Triandis, 1995) is an 8-item scale designed to measure cultural values in terms of individualism-collectivism. Sample items include “I’d rather depend on myself than on others” (individualism) and “Family members should stick together, no matter what sacrifices are required” (collectivism). This measure uses a 5-point Likert scale (1=strongly disagree, 5=strongly agree), and is available in both English and Spanish translations.
